Enter the Sistine Chapel early with a guide, then explore the Raphael Rooms in a semi-private group of no more than six.

About this tour

See the Sistine Chapel before the larger crowds arrive on this early-access Rome Sistine Chapel Tour, limited to six participants. Your guide begins with a 30-minute introduction outside the museums, then leads you inside for a guided visit to the chapel and the Raphael Rooms.

Take in Michelangelo’s celebrated ceiling and the frescoes of the Raphael Rooms while your expert local guide shares context along the way. The small group makes it easier to ask questions and enjoy a more personal visit. After the guided portion, you can continue exploring the Vatican Museums galleries at your own pace.

Please dress modestly, with knees and shoulders covered. Talking is not permitted inside the Sistine Chapel, and religious events may delay its opening. Choose this Rome Sistine Chapel Tour for an early start, a compact group, and time with two of the Vatican’s most remarkable artistic spaces.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.98 from 541 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 9.5. Top 1% in Rome means it ranks in the top 1% of tours in Rome by this score.
