About this tour
Step past the long entrance line and discover the art and history of St. Peter’s Basilica at your own pace. This Rome St. Peter’s Basilica tour pairs entry with audio guide access, bringing the basilica’s celebrated masterpieces into focus as you explore.
Look for Michelangelo’s Pietà and Bernini’s Baldachin, then visit the Papal Tombs in the Vatican Grottoes. Choose the Basilica-only option or add access to the Dome for sweeping views over Rome. The stairs option involves climbing to the top; the elevator option covers part of the ascent by elevator, followed by a shorter staircase climb. Dome access is included only when selected with your booking.
Your digital QR code is sent by email. Go to the designated meeting point on Via di Porta Angelica and show your code to staff, who will direct you to the correct entry line. Make your visit to St. Peter’s Basilica a flexible, self-paced experience, with the option to see the city from above.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 3.31 from 26 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 5.7.
