Explore St. Peter’s Basilica, visit the Papal Crypts, and climb for sweeping views of the Vatican Gardens and Rome.
About this tour
Discover the art, faith, and history at the heart of Vatican City on a guided visit to St. Peter’s Basilica. This three-hour experience brings you inside one of Rome’s most celebrated landmarks, with time to explore its remarkable interior and hear the stories behind its spiritual and artistic treasures.
Continue to the Papal Crypts, where the tombs reveal a quieter, deeply historic side of the Basilica. The tour also includes a climb to elevated viewpoints, with sweeping sights across the Vatican Gardens and Rome. An English-speaking live guide leads the visit, and larger groups receive audio headsets to follow the commentary comfortably. The entrance fee is included; allow extra time for security checks, which can create queues. Remember to provide every passenger’s full name and date of birth in advance, and dress with shoulders and knees covered.
See the Basilica’s defining spaces, uncover its history, and take in the city from above on this St. Peter’s Basilica tour. Book your Rome visit and experience the landmark beyond its famous façade.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.00 from 2 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.9.
