Explore St. Peter’s Basilica, visit the papal crypt, and climb to the dome for sweeping views on a private Rome tour.

About this tour

See St. Peter’s Basilica from its grand square to the heights of its dome on a private Rome St. Peter’s Basilica tour. With priority entry, you can spend your time exploring rather than waiting, while your guide leads your group through the basilica and points out Michelangelo’s La Pietà and other notable sights.

The visit also includes the papal crypt, a stop many tour groups miss. Then head up to the dome: the ticket includes elevator access to the terrace, where 320 steps remain to reach the top. Take in panoramic views over Rome, with your guide alongside you during the climb. Because this is a private tour, the pace is tailored to your group, which can include up to 10 guests.

Meet near St. Peter’s Square at Caffè Leonina and arrive 15 minutes before departure. Remember to bring ID and dress with shoulders and knees covered. Book this Rome St. Peter’s Basilica tour for a guided visit that brings together the basilica, crypt, and dome in one experience.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
