About this tour

Step into the heart of Vatican City on a guided visit to St. Peter’s Basilica, where monumental architecture and centuries of history fill every corner. Begin in St. Peter’s Square, taking in Bernini’s sweeping colonnades and the ancient Egyptian Obelisk as your guide sets the scene.

Inside the Basilica, encounter Michelangelo’s Pietà, the towering bronze Baldachin, intricate mosaics, and the hidden symbols woven into the building’s design. Continue below the main floor to the Papal Grottoes, a sacred resting place for former Popes and Saint Peter. For an even broader view, choose the Dome option and climb to a panoramic vantage point over the Eternal City.

This three-hour Rome St. Peter’s Basilica tour brings together celebrated artworks, sacred spaces, and remarkable engineering with the insight of a professional guide. Meet your guide at Borgo Vittorio 37, where they will be waiting with a flag. Choose the Dome option if you want to see Rome from above.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
