Explore Trajan’s Market, ancient forums, and museum collections, with a multimedia film and optional panoramic elevator views over Rome.

About this tour

Step into the layers of Rome’s past at Trajan’s Market, an archaeological complex that has evolved alongside the Eternal City. This Rome Trajan’s Market experience begins with a 25-minute multimedia video, using before-and-after views to bring the city’s ancient landmarks to life.

Explore Trajan’s Market and the Imperial Forum Museum at your own pace. The site once served as a strategic administrative center filled with shops, then became a noble residence, military fortress, and convent. Discover the forums of Caesar, Augustus, and Nerva, along with the Templum Pacis. Inside the museum, admire ancient sculptures and amphorae, and see a distinctive 17th-century cistern. A downloadable audio guide for your smartphone adds context as you explore.

Choose the panoramic elevator option for a sweeping view from the top of the Altar of the Fatherland. With hosted entry and a 60-minute experience, this Rome Trajan’s Market visit offers a vivid way to connect the city’s monumental past with its present. Redeem your voucher at the designated meeting point and set out to explore.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.04 from 27 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 5.9.
