Explore the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Vatican, and Rome’s iconic fountains and piazzas on a private six-hour tour with an art historian guide.

About this tour

See Rome’s ancient landmarks and Vatican treasures on a private six-hour tour led by a professional art historian guide. This Rome Vatican and Ancient Rome Tour brings the city’s history into focus, from the Colosseum and Roman Forum to the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Square.

Along the way, take in Piazza Venezia, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona. Entrance tickets are provided for the Colosseum, Vatican, and Pantheon, while your private guide shares context that helps connect Rome’s monumental ruins with its celebrated art and architecture. The itinerary also includes the Vatican Museums and the majestic basilica; Vatican access may change if areas close for papal events, in which case the guide may offer an alternative focused on the museums.

Meet your guide outside the Colosseum Metro Station, and bring identification matching the names on your booking. Dress modestly for religious sites, with knees and shoulders covered. Choose this Rome Vatican and Ancient Rome Tour for a rich, guided introduction to the city’s most renowned sights.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 1 review. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.1. Top 48% in Rome means it ranks in the top 48% of tours in Rome by this score.
