Explore St. Peter’s Basilica, visit the Papal Tombs, and admire masterpieces with a certified guide or a 20-stop audio guide.

About this tour

Discover St. Peter’s Basilica through its art, architecture, and sacred history, with a choice of a guided tour or a digital audio guide. This 60-minute experience brings you close to celebrated works such as Michelangelo’s Pietà and Bernini’s Baldacchino, and includes access to the Papal Tombs.

Choose a certified guide to explore the Basilica with an audio headset, then continue independently after the tour. Or follow a 20-stop audio guide on your smartphone at your own pace, available in English, Italian, Spanish, French, and German. The audio-guide option includes a named timed-entry reservation delivered with instructions by email or WhatsApp; it has no meeting point. For the guided tour, meet at Piazza della Città Leonina 6 at least 15 minutes before departure.

A timed reservation does not replace security checks, and visitors must follow the Basilica’s dress code, covering shoulders and knees. Dome access is not included. Choose the format that suits your visit and experience St. Peter’s Basilica up close.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.69 from 13 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.9.
