San Antonio Map-Making Workshop 3 hr

Draw San Antonio through the winding course of its river in a hands-on workshop led by Texan cartographer Emma Schmidt. No drawing or mapping experience is needed; you’ll learn approachable techniques and create your own hand-drawn map with all materials provided.

Follow the San Antonio River as it moves through the city, with Emma guiding you through each step of the map-making process. The workshop also includes time to explore Going to Texas – Five Centuries of Texas Maps, an exhibit that offers a deeper look at the state’s cartographic history. Schmidt brings a storyteller’s eye to her work, using maps to capture the character of a place.

This three-hour San Antonio Map-Making Workshop pairs creative practice with local history in a relaxed setting. Space is limited, and the experience is for adults 21 and older, so book ahead and get ready to see the city from a new perspective.
