About this tour

Trade city streets for forest trails, mountain-fed streams, and the quiet beauty of Beaver Lake. This guided Sitka wilderness trail hike pairs a coastal drive with time outdoors in Tongass National Forest, where the scenery is as memorable as the chance to spot local wildlife.

Meet your guide near the cruise terminal and ride in an air-conditioned vehicle to the trailhead. Along the way, take in views of the mountains and ocean. On the trail, watch the waters for whales and leaping salmon and scan the skies for eagles. Your guide shares insights into the area's flora and fauna, with a chance to forage for local berries. Dramatic rock formations, clear lakes, and mountain-fed streams bring the landscape into focus. Local snacks and bottled water help keep you refreshed during the outing.

This tour scores 4.89 on Viator and 5.00 on GetYourGuide. Ratings on these sites cluster near the top of the 5-star scale, so we compare each one with all other ratings on the same site before combining them.

How the score works and rating distribution in Sitka
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.8. Top 27% in Sitka means it ranks in the top 27% of tours in Sitka by this score.
