About this tour

Set out across Sitka Sound, where Alaska’s wild coastline meets waters alive with marine wildlife. This two-hour Sitka Marine Wildlife Tour is led by local guides who know the area and its animals firsthand.

Cruise through the waters around Sitka and the Tongass National Forest, with views of the island’s volcanic coastline. Keep watch for humpback, gray, and killer whales, along with sea lions, sea otters, eagles, puffins, and other seabirds. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, but the sound offers a rich setting for observing the region’s marine life and learning about its ecosystems.

Your guide shares local knowledge about the animals and the history of this landscape as you explore. Bottled water is provided, and the tour is operated by a family-run Sitka company. How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 8 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Sitka
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.5. Top 34% in Sitka means it ranks in the top 34% of tours in Sitka by this score.
