Meet sled dogs and puppies, hear a musher talk, and roast s'mores at a forest camp on this Skagway outing with pier transportation.

About this tour

Travel from Skagway into the forested beauty of Dyea for a relaxed encounter with Alaska's sled-dog culture. On this Skagway Musher's Camp and S'More Roasting tour, a scenic drive introduces the area, with a guide sharing stories of Skagway's Gold Rush history along the way.

At the camp, hear an informative musher presentation, meet the athletic sled dogs, and spend time with their puppies. Then gather around the campfire to roast marshmallows and make s'mores with the provided kit. You can also explore the base camp, browse its gift shop, or relax at the saloon and cafe. A self-guided nature walk offers a chance to enjoy the forest and view a nearby waterfall. Round-trip pier transportation makes the outing easy to fit into a port visit, and your guide returns you to the pier afterward.

Choose this Skagway Musher's Camp and S'More Roasting experience for a memorable mix of puppies, local stories, and a classic campfire treat.

How this score is calculated

This tour scores 4.33 on Viator (GetYourGuide shows no usable rating). Ratings on these sites cluster near the top of the 5-star scale, so we compare each one with all other ratings on the same site before combining them.

How the score works and rating distribution in Skagway
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 5.9.
