Float above Albuquerque’s Rio Grande Valley at sunrise, with Sandia Mountain views, an expert pilot, and a celebratory toast after landing.

About this tour

Rise with the morning light on an Albuquerque hot air balloon ride above the Rio Grande Valley. As the balloon lifts, the Sandia Mountains and New Mexico landscape open beneath you, painted in the warm colors of sunrise.

Your experience lasts about 3.5 to 4 hours, with approximately 1 hour in the air. An experienced pilot guides the flight, points out local features, and answers questions along the way. After landing, celebrate with a toast and light snacks before returning to the launch site. Depending on the season and schedule, flights may also be offered at sunset.

The Albuquerque hot air balloon ride is shared, with 10 to 16 passengers in each basket. Flights depend on suitable weather, so allow flexibility in your plans. Meet at the Rainbow Ryders office, then get ready to see the valley from a remarkable new perspective.

How this score is calculated

This tour scores 4.90 on Viator and 4.84 on GetYourGuide. Ratings on these sites cluster near the top of the 5-star scale, so we compare each one with all other ratings on the same site before combining them.

How the score works and rating distribution in Albuquerque
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.5. Top 6% in Albuquerque means it ranks in the top 6% of tours in Albuquerque by this score.
