Uncover colonial Annapolis’s scandalous side on a 90-minute walk filled with tales of intrigue, secrets, and mischief.

About this tour

Step into the shadowy side of colonial life on the Annapolis Scandalous History Walking Tour, where the city’s polished historic streets conceal stories of mischief and intrigue. Led by a guide playing a colonial indentured servant, this 90-minute walk brings the past to life with a wry, adults-only perspective.

As you explore Historic Annapolis, hear jaw-dropping anecdotes about what unfolded inside famed homes and taverns. Founding Fathers, Annapolis gentry, portrait artists, and everyday residents all had secrets. Stories touch on revenge, murder, spying, drinking, political discord, and pleasures of the night, revealing a less buttoned-up side of colonial society. The tour meets at Market House Park in downtown Annapolis; arrive 15 minutes early before the 7:30 p.m. departure.

For a fresh take on the city’s history, join the Annapolis Scandalous History Walking Tour and discover the tales that rarely make it into the official record.

How this score is calculated

This tour scores 5.00 on Viator (GetYourGuide shows no usable rating). Ratings on these sites cluster near the top of the 5-star scale, so we compare each one with all other ratings on the same site before combining them.

How the score works and rating distribution in Annapolis
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.1. Top 37% in Annapolis means it ranks in the top 37% of tours in Annapolis by this score.
