Walk historic Annapolis, from City Dock to the State House, and discover the city’s role in the American independence story.
Explore Annapolis’s historic center on a 90-minute walk created for the United States’ 250th anniversary. This Annapolis Walking Tour follows the city’s connections to the fight for independence, with harbor scenery and landmarks that bring the era to life.
Start near City Dock, where the harbor welcomed many of the nation’s founders in the 1700s, and take in views toward the Chesapeake Bay. Along the way, see two Georgian mansions dating to the 1770s and visit the Maryland State House, where the Treaty of Paris concluded the Revolutionary War and George Washington resigned his commission as commander in chief. The route also explores the campus of St. John’s College, founded in 1696, while your guide shares local customs and points out places to eat and drink. Questions are welcome, and your guide can take photos at scenic stops.
The Annapolis Walking Tour starts outside Market House at 25 Market Space. Food and drinks are not included, but the guide is happy to pause at cafés along the way. Join the walk to discover the stories behind this historic waterfront city.
