About this tour
Follow bison country roads, granite spires, and broad Black Hills views on a Custer State Park self-guided audio driving tour. With GPS-triggered stories and route guidance, the scenery sets the pace and your car becomes your private tour vehicle.
Begin at the Welcome to Custer State Park sign on U.S. 16A in Custer, or join the route at a point shown in the app. Drive the Wildlife Loop Road, where bison roam freely, and stop at the Wildlife Station Visitor Center to learn about the park’s history and wildlife. Continue along Needles Highway through jagged granite formations, then head to Mount Coolidge for panoramic views across the park. Pause for photos, hikes, or a picnic whenever you like.
Download the separate Audio Tour Guide app by Action before you arrive, while connected to Wi-Fi or strong cellular service. Once downloaded, the tour works offline, and one purchase covers everyone in your car. Access does not expire, so you can take the route at your own pace and revisit the stories later. Park entrance fees, parking, food, and car rental are not included. Set up your audio and discover Custer State Park on your own terms.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.67 from 6 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Custer
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.9.
