About this tour
Trade Fairbanks’ city lights for the quiet wilderness around Chena Hot Springs, where a relaxing soak and a chance to see the northern lights make a memorable winter outing. This Fairbanks Chena Hot Springs Aurora Tour combines a scenic drive with time to enjoy the resort.
Depart from your accommodations in Fairbanks in the late afternoon and travel about 60 miles through Tanana State Forest. At Chena Hot Springs Resort, visit the Ice Museum, soak in the hot springs, or dine at the rustic restaurant; food and drinks are available for purchase on site. Later in the evening, turn your attention to the sky. Your guide looks for auroras around the resort and at spots along the road, where dark wilderness skies offer favorable viewing conditions.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.60 from 10 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Fairbanks
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.8.
