Ride through spruce forests, frozen lakes, and deep powder on a guided Fairbanks snowmobile tour with gear and a safety tutorial.

About this tour

Set out from Fairbanks for a guided snowmobile ride through the Goldstream Valley, where spruce forests give way to frozen lakes, winding creeks, and open tundra. This Fairbanks snowmobile tour pairs the thrill of riding your own machine with a glimpse of everyday life in Alaska’s subarctic landscape.

After gearing up in provided cold-weather clothing and safety equipment, get a short tutorial before heading out with a professional guide. Spend two hours navigating the valley on a new Arctic Cat or Skidoo snowmobile, crossing frozen water and feeling the rush of deep powder. Along the way, learn about local life, from dry cabins and winter travel to the outdoor community that includes dog mushers, snowshoers, cross-country skiers, and fat bikers. Beginners are welcome.

The full experience takes about 2.5 hours, including roughly 30 minutes to gear up and prepare. Book this Fairbanks guided snowmobile tour for an active way to explore the Goldstream Valley in winter.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.98 from 84 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Fairbanks
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.8. Top 6% in Fairbanks means it ranks in the top 6% of tours in Fairbanks by this score.
