Meet Alaska’s sled dogs, learn about their working lives, and enjoy a summer cart ride through a Fairbanks kennel experience.

About this tour

Meet the Alaskan sled dogs who trade winter trails for a summer cart ride in Fairbanks. This two-hour experience pairs a kennel visit with a lively dryland mush, offering a close-up look at the dogs’ strength, personalities, and working lives.

Start with a presentation about working-dog temperament, pack mentality, and the demands of 1,000-mile races. Then meet the team and climb aboard a cart as the dogs pull you around the property. Along the way, learn how they spend their summer break and what makes each dog part of the pack. The musher decides whether conditions are safe for the cart ride, so the ride may be removed if temperatures could affect the dogs’ well-being. The tour runs rain or shine; wear closed-toe shoes and clothes suited to dusty paws and friendly greetings.

Fairbanks Summer Mushing Cart Ride and Kennel Tour is a memorable way to connect with Alaska’s sled-dog culture beyond the winter season. Book your visit to meet the team and hear their stories firsthand.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. GetYourGuide rates it 5.00 from 14 reviews. We place that rating among all GetYourGuide ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Fairbanks
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.8. Top 22% in Fairbanks means it ranks in the top 22% of tours in Fairbanks by this score.
