About this tour
Trade the familiar coastline for a rugged route through hidden terrain on this San Diego slot canyon tour. With a guide who brings a naturalist’s eye and a photographer’s perspective, explore a narrow canyon shaped by time and wind.
Use your hands to navigate steep passages, with short sections involving ropes and light scrambling. Along the way, discover striking sandstone formations and wind-carved caves before reaching overlooks with broad Pacific views. The terrain can be demanding, but ropes and climbing gloves are provided, and free photos help you remember the journey. Bring your own snacks or water if you think you’ll need them.
Meet in the dirt parking lot at the end of Torrey Pines Scenic Drive, near the brown-and-white building and palm trees, and watch for updates by text or email. Choose this San Diego slot canyon tour for a hands-on coastal adventure and a fresh perspective on the landscape.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.93 from 451 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in La Jolla
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.8. Top 9% in La Jolla means it ranks in the top 9% of tours in La Jolla by this score.
