Meet at the top parking lot, about a mile past the lower gate to the trailhead, which opens at 7 a.m. Travelers staying in West Maui are advised to take Honoapiʻilani Highway South, also known as Hawaii Route 30 South. A moderate level of physical fitness is recommended, and the hike is not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health. Service animals are allowed.
