Listen to whale songs through an underwater hydrophone and learn about these ocean giants on a 90-minute Maui whale watching tour.

About this tour

Hear the songs of whales beneath the surface on a Maui Whale Watching Tour, where an underwater hydrophone brings their calls into clear focus. The crew shares whale facts throughout the trip and welcomes your questions, adding context to the sounds and sightings along the way.

This 90-minute tour departs from the docks. Check in 15–30 minutes before departure at the picnic table to the right of the docks; look for staff wearing black Blue Water Rafting logo attire. Free parking is available at street level. Aloha Maid juices and bottled water are provided, though the rafts do not have a restroom.

Blue Water Rafting has been operating since 1985. Book your Maui Whale Watching Tour for a memorable time on the water, with the chance to listen closely to whale songs and learn from an experienced crew.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.90 from 42 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Maui
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.7. Top 34% in Maui means it ranks in the top 34% of tours in Maui by this score.
