Walk Mystic’s Whitehall Burial Ground by lantern light as a storyteller shares colonial history, ghostly legends, and a spooky surprise.
About this tour
As dusk settles over Mystic, the lantern-lit gate of Whitehall Burial Ground opens onto a walk through New England’s shadowed past. On this Mystic Graveyard Ghost Tour, a professional storyteller leads you among the graves of people who helped shape the town.
Hear accounts of King Philip’s War, Patriot defenders, abolitionists, freed enslaved people, and alleged vampires linked to epidemic-era fears. Along the way, learn about colonial burial customs and the history of this burial ground, established in the 1660s. Local stories also speak of footsteps, voices, and apparitions, and the evening ends with a spooky surprise. A voice amplifier helps make the guide’s stories easier to hear.
The guided walk lasts about 105 to 120 minutes and takes place rain or shine. Meet at the cemetery gate and look for lanterns; parking is available behind the Hampton Inn and at Charter Oak Credit Union. Dress for the weather, and consider bringing a flashlight and insect repellent. Join the Mystic Graveyard Ghost Tour for a moonlit blend of local history and eerie storytelling.

How the score works and rating distribution in Mystic
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.0.
