New York City Harlem Gospel Walking Tour 3 hr

Hear Harlem’s history in the neighborhood where it unfolded, then experience the uplifting sound of gospel music at a historic church. This New York City Harlem Gospel Walking Tour pairs a Sunday church service with multimedia storytelling and a guided walk led by a Harlem-born-and-raised local.

Begin at the Harlem Heritage Tourism and Cultural Center with a light morning snack, coffee, water, and juice. Watch a video presentation about Harlem’s churches and influential leaders before setting out with your guide. Portable video and audio bring added context to the sights as you explore the neighborhood’s cultural history, including its art, architecture, politics, and music. At the church, take in the service and its soul-stirring gospel music; photography and video recording are not allowed inside. The walk also includes the Apollo Theater, where your guide shares stories about the landmark’s place in Harlem’s cultural legacy. Bags can be stored at the cultural center during the tour.

With local insight and vivid stories along the way, this New York City Harlem Gospel Walking Tour offers a memorable way to connect with the neighborhood. Reserve your Sunday visit and discover Harlem on foot.
