Uncover carved symbols, Napoleonic bees, and hidden stories on a 90-minute guided walk around the Louvre’s historic facades in Paris.
About this tour
Look beyond the Louvre’s famous galleries and discover the stories written across its stone facades. On this 90-minute Paris Louvre Facades Tour, a guide-speaker reveals details many visitors pass without noticing, from esoteric symbols to Napoleonic bees and enigmatic hieroglyphs.
Follow the architecture across centuries, beginning with the medieval fortress and continuing through the facades that frame the world’s largest museum. The route leads from the Lescot Wing toward the Tuileries Gardens, connecting the building’s changing styles with the eras that shaped it. Along the way, your guide brings hidden carvings and lesser-known histories into focus, offering a fresh perspective on a familiar Paris landmark.
Meet in front of the East façade on rue de l’Amiral-de-Coligny, opposite Saint-Germain-L’Auxerrois church, near Louvre Rivoli metro station on Line 1. Join the Paris Louvre Facades Tour to see the museum’s exterior as a layered record of history, art, and mystery.

How this score is calculated
This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 1 review. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.
How the score works and rating distribution in Paris
- Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
- Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
- Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
- The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.1. Top 49% in Paris means it ranks in the top 49% of tours in Paris by this score.
