Explore Somme memorials, preserved trenches, and wartime landmarks on a flexible private day trip from Paris with an English-speaking driver.

About this tour

Travel from Paris into the Somme, where preserved trenches, memorials, and cratered landscapes bring the First World War’s history into view. This private 8-hour Paris Somme Battlefields day trip pairs a comfortable ride with an English-speaking local driver who shares stories, historical context, and practical tips along the way.

Visit landmarks such as the Lochnagar Crater and the Newfoundland Memorial at Beaumont-Hamel, where you can walk through preserved trenches. The itinerary may also include Amiens and the Great War Museum, with its collection of uniforms, weapons, and soldiers’ personal belongings. Your route is adjustable and can include suggested photo stops, giving you time to explore at your own pace. The driver remains outside museums and archaeological areas, and attraction admission fees are not included. Groups of 1–4 travel by sedan; groups of 5–8 travel by minivan.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 2 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Paris
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.2. Top 41% in Paris means it ranks in the top 41% of tours in Paris by this score.
