Paris WW1 Somme Battlefield Day Trip

Travel from Paris into France’s Picardy region for a day among the landscapes and memorials of the Somme. At Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial Park, walk beside some of the last preserved original World War I trenches. At La Boisselle, take in the immense Lochnagar Crater, a stark reminder of the conflict’s scale.

In Thiepval, pay your respects at the British War Memorial, then visit the museum’s gallery devoted to the Battle of the Somme. Its panoramic mural, created by illustrator Joe Sacco, stretches across 60 meters of back-lit glass and traces the events of July 1, 1916, hour by hour. Continue to Albert to explore the Historial of the Somme 1916 Museum and its collection of wartime objects. Admission to both museums and an air-conditioned vehicle with a driver-guide are included.

This Paris WW1 Somme Battlefield day trip brings together preserved trenches, a monumental crater, memorials, and museum collections for a vivid encounter with the region’s history. Book your visit to discover these powerful sites firsthand.
