About this tour

Explore Richmond after dark on a 2-hour haunted pub crawl through Shockoe Bottom, where historic taverns and eerie local legends share the same streets. With a knowledgeable guide leading the way, hear stories of war, murder, and restless spirits as you visit three bars and haunted locations.

The route may feature local favorites and craft producers, with stops that can vary by day and season. Along the way, learn about spirits said to haunt St. John’s Church, wounded Civil War soldiers, and Richmond’s connection to Edgar Allan Poe. Drinks are available to purchase at the bars, but are not included. The experience pairs researched history and authentic local tales with a lively look at the neighborhood’s nightlife.

How this score is calculated

This tour scores 4.03 on Viator and 4.15 on GetYourGuide. Ratings on these sites cluster near the top of the 5-star scale, so we compare each one with all other ratings on the same site before combining them.

How the score works and rating distribution in Richmond
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 5.3.
