Explore Assisi and Santa Maria degli Angeli on a private 9-hour drive, with an English-speaking driver and time to visit at your own pace.

About this tour

Discover Assisi and Santa Maria degli Angeli on a private 9-hour drive through the heart of Umbria. Travel in a deluxe, air-conditioned Mercedes-Benz with an English-speaking professional driver, and enjoy bottled water along the way.

At Santa Maria degli Angeli, visit the Porziuncola, where the Franciscan movement began, and the Chapel of the Transitus, associated with the death of St. Francis. Continue to Assisi to explore the basilicas of St. Francis and St. Clare, then see San Damiano monastery set among olive groves. This is a driver-only experience: there is no tour guide or walking tour, so you can explore each stop independently while your driver waits with the vehicle. Admission tickets and lunch are not included, leaving you free to plan your visits and meal.

Take in Assisi at your own pace and discover its medieval streets and landmarks on this private day trip through Umbria.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
