Trace your Italian roots on a private tour of your ancestors’ village, with local stories, historic sites, and possible access to family records.

About this tour

Follow your family story back to its Italian roots on a private ancestry tour. Travel with an English-speaking driver to the village connected to your family and see the places that may bring old names and stories to life.

Walk through your ancestors’ village, visit churches and historic palazzi, and meet locals for conversations that can add color to your family research. When permitted, stop at city hall to view an ancient record book that may contain birth information about your ancestors. The experience can be adjusted along the way to match your interests. You can also enjoy a traditional meal at a local trattoria, with food and drinks at your own expense.

With hotel pickup and an air-conditioned private vehicle, this Italy Italian Ancestry Tour offers a personal way to explore your heritage. Bring the family details you have, and set out to discover the places behind them.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
