Follow Via Ostiense and the Ancient Appian Way on an 8-hour Rome drive with an English-speaking driver in a deluxe Mercedes.

About this tour

Leave Rome behind and follow two ancient routes that still shape the landscape today. This 8-hour Rome Ancient Roman Roads Tour travels along Via Ostiensis, now known as Via Ostiense, and the ancient stretch of Via Appia called the Ancient Appian Way.

Ride in a deluxe Mercedes with an English-speaking driver as you explore places reached by these historic roads. The experience is driver-only, so you can discover each stop at your own pace; a private tour guide, walking tour, entrance tickets, and lunch are not included. Bottled water and all fees and taxes are included. Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness, and infant seats are available.

See a different side of the Eternal City from the road and trace the routes that once connected Rome to the wider world. Book your Rome Ancient Roman Roads Tour for a full day of history and discovery.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
