Explore Santa Sabina and Santa Prisca, hear Aventine Hill legends, and enjoy Rome skyline views on this 90-minute guided tour.

About this tour

Discover a quieter side of Rome on a 90-minute walk across Aventine Hill, where early Christian history meets peaceful gardens and sweeping city views. This Rome basilica tour visits Santa Sabina and Santa Prisca, two ancient churches that reveal the city’s transformation from pagan traditions to Christianity.

Listen to your live guide through provided headsets as you explore the basilicas and hear local legends, including tales of miraculous orange trees and the mysterious stone of the devil. Then take in the skyline from the Orange Garden and look through the celebrated keyhole for a framed view of St. Peter’s Basilica. The route brings together architecture, stories, and memorable viewpoints in one compact outing. Meet near the Monument to Giuseppe Mazzini and arrive five minutes before your scheduled start.

Choose this Rome basilica tour for a thoughtful glimpse of the city beyond its busiest landmarks. Remember to dress modestly inside the churches, covering your knees and shoulders, and bring your own headphones if you wish to reduce plastic waste.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 1 review. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.1. Top 48% in Rome means it ranks in the top 48% of tours in Rome by this score.
