Explore Rome’s Borghese Gallery with an art historian, admiring Bernini, Canova, Raphael, and Caravaggio in a small group.

About this tour

Step into Rome’s Borghese Gallery, where marble figures, vivid canvases, and ornate ceilings bring centuries of art to life. On this 90-minute small-group tour, an expert art historian leads you through the gallery’s rooms and shares the stories behind its celebrated collection.

Admire Bernini’s Apollo and Daphne, David, and Rape of Proserpine, alongside Canova’s Pauline Bonaparte and Raphael’s The Deposition. You’ll also encounter works by Caravaggio, including David and Goliath and St. John the Baptist, while taking in the villa’s marble architecture and ceiling frescoes. With a group of 15 or fewer, there’s room to focus on the details and hear your guide’s commentary.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.66 from 170 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.1.
