About this tour

Explore Rome’s history on a private tour of Capitol Hill and the Capitoline Museums, where ancient legends and Renaissance art meet above the city. The story begins on a hill that has shaped Rome for nearly three thousand years, from the Temple of Jupiter to Piazza del Campidoglio, designed by Michelangelo.

Inside the Capitoline Museums, discover the She-Wolf associated with the founding of Rome, the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius, and the colossal head of Constantine. The collection also features works by Italian masters Caravaggio and Bernini. Skip-the-line museum entry is included, giving you more time to take in the artworks and the history behind them. Outside, enjoy views over Ancient Rome and capture photos from this remarkable vantage point.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.70 from 10 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.9.
