About this tour

Step into Rome’s story at the Capitoline Museums, where celebrated works of art bring ancient myths and history to life. This 2-hour Rome Capitoline Museums Art Tour begins in Piazza del Campidoglio, the striking square designed by Michelangelo, before your guide leads you through the museum’s treasures.

See iconic works such as the Capitoline She-Wolf and the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius as your guide shares the stories behind them. Explore the galleries, including underground spaces, and take in views of the Roman Forum from the museum balcony. Headsets help you hear the live guide clearly, while the museum route can be customized to your interests. The tour involves a moderate amount of walking.

For an expanded visit, choose the optional 40-minute tour of the Monument to Victor Emmanuel II, with elevator access to its panoramic terrace. The itinerary may vary when this option is selected, and the monument visit and terrace access are not included otherwise. How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.00 from 1 review. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.0.
