About this tour

Step beneath Rome’s streets to explore an ancient Christian Catacomb, then follow the historic Appian Way past the Cecilia Metella Mausoleum. This 3-hour Rome Catacombs and Ancient Appian Way Tour pairs underground history with a comfortable ride through one of the city’s most storied landscapes.

Choose from the Catacombs of St. Callixtus, St. Sebastian, or St. Domitilla. Skip-the-line admission is included, and a local expert guide leads the experience. Your private, air-conditioned vehicle and professional English-speaking driver provide hotel pickup and drop-off, making it easy to connect the underground visit with the Appian Way. The Catacombs portion is a small-group tour organized by Catacombs staff, with guides available in English, Spanish, or Italian; the rest of the tour is private to your group.

How this score is calculated

This tour has no TourTruth score yet: Viator doesn't show a usable rating for it. It gets a score as soon as a provider lists one.

How the score works
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10. Tours without a usable provider rating are not scored.
