Explore the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill with a local guide on a three-hour journey through ancient Rome.

About this tour

Step into the world of gladiators, emperors, and ancient spectacles on a Rome Colosseum and Ancient Rome Guided Tour. With an official local guide, explore three of the city’s defining landmarks: the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill.

At the Colosseum, hear how the arena hosted dramatic contests and events that helped shape the empire. Your guide, an archaeologist or historical art expert, brings the monument’s past to life with stories of Roman spectacle and daily life. Continue to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, where the included entrance ticket gives you access to these celebrated archaeological sites. A headset helps you follow the guide along the way.

The tour lasts three hours and includes the Colosseum reservation fee. Remember to provide every traveler’s full name when booking and bring matching identification for entry. Discover the layers of history behind Rome’s most iconic ruins on this guided Colosseum and Ancient Rome tour.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 3.66 from 50 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 5.1.
