About this tour

Travel through the layers of ancient Rome, from the ruins where citizens once gathered to the landmark that still defines the city. This four-hour Rome Colosseum and Ancient Sites Tour combines the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, and Roman Houses of Celio, with time to explore the archaeological area at your own pace.

Begin with a 25-minute multimedia video that brings imperial Rome to life, then wander the Forum and climb Palatine Hill. After roughly two hours in the archaeological area, continue to the Colosseum. Your ticket also opens the Roman Houses of Celio, where entry is flexible and you can decide when to visit. An audioguide app supports your exploration, and staff at the Touristation Aracoeli office provide assistance. The experience also includes an English walking tour past Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps.

Meet at the Touristation Aracoeli office on Piazza Aracoeli, then set out to discover Rome’s ancient heart. Choose this Rome Colosseum and Ancient Sites Tour for a varied day of ruins, stories, and celebrated city sights.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 3.40 from 5 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.7.
