Explore the Colosseum and Roman Forum with an art historian guide on a 3-hour walk through ancient Rome’s landmark ruins.

About this tour

Step into the heart of ancient Rome on a guided visit to its most storied landmarks. This 3-hour Rome Colosseum and Roman Forum Guided Tour pairs the amphitheater with the ruins of the Forum, led by a professional art historian guide.

Explore the Colosseum’s interior, then walk through the Roman Forum to see the Arch of Constantine, Senate House, Temple of Julius Caesar, triumphal arches, House of the Vestal Virgins, basilicas, and temples of Saturn and Concord. Rather than visiting the underground areas and third tier, the tour focuses on other parts of the amphitheater and the Forum. Your Colosseum entrance ticket and reservation fee are included, so you can concentrate on the stories and surviving details around you.

Meet your guide at the newsagent in front of the Colosseum Metro Station exit. Bring identification that matches the names submitted at booking, and discover the ancient city through the places where its public life unfolded. Choose this Rome Colosseum and Roman Forum Guided Tour for a focused introduction to the monuments of imperial Rome.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.93 from 14 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.5. Top 23% in Rome means it ranks in the top 23% of tours in Rome by this score.
