Step onto the Colosseum Arena Floor through Gladiators’ Arch and hear your guide bring Rome’s ancient spectacles to life.

About this tour

Stand where gladiators once faced the roar of the crowd on a guided Rome Colosseum Arena Floor tour. Enter through the historic Gladiators’ Arch and step onto the arena, where an unusual ground-level perspective brings the amphitheater’s scale and history into focus. Your guide shares stories of gladiators, emperors, and the spectacles that drew ancient Rome together, while pointing out the Senators’ Seats where the city’s elite watched the games.

The experience lasts 75 minutes. Roman Forum and Palatine Hill access is available if you select the option that includes it; otherwise, you may still access those sites on your own. Bring valid ID matching each traveler’s booking name, and arrive 15 minutes early at the meeting point by Santi Cosma and Damiano Basilica. The route involves steps, substantial walking, and uneven paths, so wear comfortable flat shoes. In July and August, the visit lasts 2 hours due to the heat.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 3.58 from 66 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 4.8.
