Walk onto the Colosseum arena floor with a guide, then explore the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill independently.

About this tour

Step onto the Colosseum arena floor and imagine the roar of the crowd as gladiators entered the ancient amphitheater. On this guided Rome Colosseum Arena Floor tour, a professional guide shares stories of emperors, battles, and the spectacle that shaped Roman history. Arena access offers a striking perspective from the heart of the monument, while the Colosseum’s scale and architecture unfold around you. After the guided visit, continue at your own pace with entry to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill; these sites are not guided as part of the tour. The experience lasts 75 minutes, though visits in July and August last 2 hours due to the heat. Meet near the Roman Forum entrance, arrive 15 minutes early, and bring identification matching the full name on each booking. Expect steps, substantial walking, and uneven paths, so wear comfortable flat shoes. Discover the stories behind one of Rome’s most iconic landmarks on a Rome Colosseum Arena Floor tour, then explore the surrounding ancient sites independently.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 3.73 from 22 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.0.
