Explore the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and Roman Forum with a licensed guide on a three-hour journey through ancient Rome.

About this tour

Step into the world of gladiators, emperors, and ancient civic life on a Rome Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum tour led by a licensed guide. Over three hours, explore three landmarks that reveal how the city grew from legendary beginnings into the heart of an empire.

Begin at the Colosseum, where your guide shares stories of Roman ingenuity and the spectacles that once filled the arena. Take in sweeping views from above the arena floor, then continue to Palatine Hill, the legendary birthplace of Rome and site of lavish imperial palaces. Descend into the Roman Forum, once the lively center of public life, and hear how its ruins connect to the city’s past. Headsets help you follow the commentary throughout the tour, and multiple language options are available depending on your selection.

The Walking Tour - External Visit option does not include entry to the Colosseum; arena access is not included in any option. Choose your preferred option and discover ancient Rome with a guide who brings its landmarks and stories into focus.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.76 from 75 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.8.
