Explore the Colosseum with a private guide, then discover the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill at your own pace.

About this tour

Explore ancient Rome with a private guide at the Colosseum, then continue through the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill at your own pace. This 75-minute Rome Colosseum Private Walking Tour pairs personal attention with access to three landmarks at the heart of the city’s history.

Meet near the green kiosk at the lower-level exit of the Colosseum Metro station. Inside the amphitheater, your expert local guide brings its architecture and role in Roman society to life, sharing stories of the spectacles once staged before crowds of up to 80,000. After the guided visit, use your included access to explore the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill independently. The guide does not accompany you through these sites, leaving you free to set your own pace.

Bring valid identification that matches the name on your booking for entry to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. With a private guided visit followed by time to wander on your own, this Rome Colosseum Private Walking Tour offers a memorable way to connect with the city’s ancient past.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 18 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.0. Top 14% in Rome means it ranks in the top 14% of tours in Rome by this score.
