Explore the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill with a private guide on a four-hour journey through ancient Rome.

About this tour

Walk through the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill on a private journey into the places that shaped ancient Rome. With an expert English-speaking guide, the Colosseum Tour brings the city’s history to life, from the arena’s spectacular engineering to the political and religious center of the Roman world.

Spend four hours exploring these storied sites and imagining a day at the games: the crowd’s roar, the arena’s tense spectacle, and the lives of the gladiators and animals at its center. Your guide helps connect the ruins around you to the emperors, orators, and citizens who once walked these grounds. Colosseum admission and reservation fees are included, with headsets provided for groups of six or more. The experience is private, so the tour is reserved for your group.

Bring a matching passport or ID and a voucher listing every traveler’s full name for entry. Meet your guide near the Roman Forum, then step into the ancient world on this Rome Colosseum Tour.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 5 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.4. Top 28% in Rome means it ranks in the top 28% of tours in Rome by this score.
