Explore the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill with an expert guide, with optional access to the reconstructed Arena Floor.

About this tour

Trace the stories of gladiators and emperors on a Rome Colosseum tour that brings ancient landmarks to life. With an expert English-speaking guide, explore the Colosseum’s first and second tiers, then continue to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill for a closer look at the heart of ancient Rome.

Choose the arena option to enter through the gladiators’ gate and stand on the reconstructed Arena Floor. Your Colosseum ticket includes the reservation fee, and the guided route connects the amphitheater with the ruins of the Forum and the hilltop setting of Palatine Hill. The experience lasts 180 minutes and offers a vivid way to explore these celebrated sites with context along the way.

For a memorable Rome Colosseum tour, bring identification that matches the names supplied at booking and arrive 10 minutes before the meeting time. Select the arena option if stepping onto the Arena Floor is part of your plans.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.65 from 1,555 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 5.7.
