Leave Rome behind for a private day trip to Orvieto’s cathedral and cliff-top Civita di Bagnoregio, with hotel pickup and drop-off.

About this tour

Trade Rome’s busy streets for a journey into the history and striking landscapes of Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoregio. This private 9-hour day trip pairs cultural landmarks with the dramatic scenery of two distinctive Italian towns.

In Orvieto, explore a city shaped by Etruscan and medieval history. Its cathedral dominates a broad square, with a celebrated rose window, golden mosaics, and three bronze doors. Then continue to Civita di Bagnoregio, known as the “Dying City.” Set atop a small cliff above sweeping valleys, it connects to the mainland by a long, narrow bridge. A private vehicle and hotel pickup and drop-off make the journey from Rome straightforward, while an English-speaking driver accompanies your trip.

Discover the character and history of both towns on this Rome Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoregio day trip. Book your private outing and experience these memorable places beyond the capital.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 4 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.3. Top 31% in Rome means it ranks in the top 31% of tours in Rome by this score.
