Explore Ostia Antica’s ancient ruins on a guided walk, with private transport from central Rome and a train ticket for the return.

About this tour

Trade Rome’s busy streets for the broad avenues and weathered brickwork of Ostia Antica, the ancient port city that once served the capital. This 150-minute outing pairs a convenient ride from central Rome with an expert-led walk through one of Italy’s most evocative archaeological sites.

Meet your guide in the city center and travel by private transfer to the park. Spend about two hours exploring the ruins, with headsets to help you follow the stories and details along the way. After the guided visit, you can linger in the archaeological park or head to the station for a train ride back to Rome; your ticket is provided, but the return journey is unguided. You can also continue to a nearby beach. An optional private return transfer is available, and the group is capped at eight people.

See a different side of the ancient world on this Rome Ostia Antica ruins tour with transfer. Choose the return option that suits your plans and enjoy a memorable escape from the city.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 1 review. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.1. Top 48% in Rome means it ranks in the top 48% of tours in Rome by this score.
