Pair Pompeii’s ancient ruins with Amalfi Coast scenery on a private day trip from Rome, with hotel pickup and your choice of coastal stop.

About this tour

Leave Rome behind for a private day trip that pairs the ancient streets of Pompeii with the coastal scenery of the Amalfi Coast. Your driver collects you at your hotel and takes you south in a climate-controlled vehicle, giving you a comfortable start to a full day of discovery.

At Pompeii, a skip-the-line ticket gets you into the remarkable archaeological site, where preserved streets and ruins offer a glimpse of life in the ancient city. Then continue toward the coast and choose to spend time in Sorrento or Positano, according to your preference. The route and timing may shift with traffic, weather, roadworks, or excavation-site activity, and your driver may recommend adjusting the plan to make the most of the day.

This Rome Pompeii and Amalfi Coast private day trip brings history and Mediterranean views together without requiring you to arrange your own transport. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, while lunch and gratuities are not. Choose your preferred coastal stop and set out for a memorable day beyond Rome.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.94 from 34 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 8.0. Top 14% in Rome means it ranks in the top 14% of tours in Rome by this score.
