About this tour

Travel from Rome into a day of ancient history and coastal scenery on this Rome Pompeii and Sorrento Amalfi Coast day trip. Ride by air-conditioned coach to Pompeii, where streets, fountains, snack bars, and graffiti offer glimpses of everyday Roman life before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Explore the archaeological site, with a professional guide available if you select that option. The described guided visit lasts about two hours and features landmarks including the Forum, baths, Lupanar, House of the Faun, and plaster casts.

Continue to Sorrento for time by the sea, a complimentary drink, and a chance to stroll through the town or admire the coastal views. An English-speaking tour leader accompanies the excursion, while lunch, snacks, and additional drinks are not included. Meet at Piazzale Flaminio 20, in front of Pizza Dolce Cucina, 20 minutes before departure; late arrivals are non-refundable, and bad weather may affect the itinerary.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 4.77 from 633 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 6.8.
