Explore Pompeii with a private guide, enjoy free time in Sorrento, and travel comfortably from Rome with your own driver.

About this tour

Leave Rome behind for a private day trip to Pompeii and Sorrento, traveling by Mercedes sedan or minivan with your own driver. At Pompeii, a private guide brings the ancient archaeological site into focus during a two-hour visit, with entrance fees included. After exploring the ruins, continue to Sorrento, where you’ll have about two hours to wander independently and enjoy lunch at your own expense. Your driver then takes you back to your hotel in Rome. With private transportation, hotel pickup and drop-off, and a guided visit to Pompeii, this Rome Pompeii and Sorrento day trip combines a landmark archaeological site with time in a coastal town. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a hat; a moderate amount of walking is required, and the tour is not suitable for people with mobility limitations. Book your Rome Pompeii and Sorrento day trip for a full day of history and coastal scenery.

How this score is calculated

This score is based on one provider. Viator rates it 5.00 from 3 reviews. We place that rating among all Viator ratings and weight it by its review count. If the tour is found on another provider later, both ratings are combined.

How the score works and rating distribution in Rome
  • Each provider rating is turned into a percentile: the share of that provider's ratings it beats, weighted by review counts.
  • Listings on different providers are combined in proportion to their review counts.
  • Tours with few reviews are pulled toward the average until more reviews come in, so a handful of perfect reviews can't top the list.
  • The result is shown from 0 to 10: this tour scores 7.3. Top 35% in Rome means it ranks in the top 35% of tours in Rome by this score.
